Old-World Charm Meets Modern Luxury at Hidden Cove
Nestled on a wooded hillside overlooking Michigan’s serene wetlands, Hidden Cove is a harmonious blend of modern luxury and natural beauty. This project is a testament to our design versatility, paying homage to the home's architectural style while incorporating modern amenities and effortless functionality into this luxury outdoor living space. Striking Infinity Edge Pool: Arched 30-Foot Spillover
The client’s primary objectives were to embrace the stunning views from the hillside property and to create a beautiful space for entertaining friends and family. At the heart of the design is the Infinity Edge Pool, perfectly positioned on the steep slope to offer a mesmerizing view of the rolling hillside. The curve of the pool’s infinity edge and sun shelf were inspired by the house’s turrets. Adding curves to the rectangular perimeter transformed the traditional pool for an eye-catching, romantic aesthetic. The pool’s 30-foot spillover creates an illusion of endlessness for swimmers. The meticulously tiled face of the infinity edge is gracefully arched and functions as a water sculpture from the lower terrace. Below the pool's spillover, a secondary patio with Adirondack chairs provides a serene retreat. These seats offer a view of the countryside when faced outwards or can be turned to enjoy the beautifully tiled spillover.
Pool Interior: Luxury and Comfort
The custom gunite pool features thoughtful design elements to ensure ultimate relaxation and enjoyment. The circular spa with an overflow feature, a sun shelf, and two convenient sitting ledges invites you to soak up the sun, sip a refreshing drink, or bask in the tranquil ambiance. The pool’s 30-foot spillover is flanked by two stone pedestals holding fire and water bowls, adding a striking visual and romantic ambiance to the space. The pool is pebbled in Bali blue from Wet Edge Technologies with a limestone coping. One of the most important material selections was the pool tile, covering the 100 sqft face of the pool’s infinity edge as well as the spa and waterline. Tommy Bahama tile in Cayo Coco was the perfect choice.
Hardscaping: Inspired by Tuscan Elegance
Luxury truly lies in the details at Hidden Cove. One of the primary design inspirations for Hidden Cove was a Tuscan pool overlooking the gorgeous vineyards and rolling hills of Tuscany. Following this inspiration, our selections specialist guided the clients toward a monochromatic paver in a warm cream color, arranged in a unique woven diamond pattern that strikes a balance between contemporary style and majestic elegance. Radiating from the main patio, floating paver pathways guide you to and from the space, adding a touch of whimsy to the overall design. The resulting patio perfectly complements the stunning pool. Within the fence line, all of the grass is turf, making it very low maintenance and eliminating the need to bring a mower in and out of the fenced property.
The home’s grand entrance features a large stone archway. To incorporate this beautiful detail into the space, Ventures sourced two separate stone veneers and hand-blended them to achieve the perfect match. This blend was used for the face of the large retaining wall as well as the kitchenette and bar.
Covered Terrace: Dining with a View
The covered terrace at Hidden Cove features a kitchenette and bar area, as well as a fireside lounge, providing the perfect vantage point to enjoy panoramic views while savoring a meal or a cocktail. The homeowners have a full kitchen in their basement just inside the sliding door to this covered patio. With a full kitchen so close at hand, they didn’t feel it was necessary to build another one outdoors. In addition, they wanted to avoid a large, obtrusive kitchen filling the space and blocking their views of the pool and hillside. Instead, they opted for a kitchenette with a warming drawer, refrigeration, and bar seating—perfect for entertaining guests and keeping hot food and cold drinks close at hand. For the fireside lounge, the homeowners again prioritized relaxation and convenience with a gas-fueled fire table that can be turned on at the flip of a switch and has ample space for resting your plate or beverage of choice. The underside of the existing terrace was finished with a tongue and groove ceiling and wired for lights, overhead heaters, and an all-weather TV, enhancing comfort and entertainment options.

Whether you prefer basking in the sun's warmth on the pool’s sunshelf or finding shade beneath a poolside umbrella, Hidden Cove provides the ideal spot to unwind. Each lounging area is thoughtfully placed to enhance the experience of enjoying the beautiful view.
