Arcadia Bluffs
Arcadia Bluffs is the perfect balance of right angles and clean, straight lines blended with organic shapes and rugged edges for an effect the homeowner calls “coordinated chaos”. The pool, the centerpiece of any outdoor entertainment space, is a classic rectangular shape allowing for an auto cover that retracts and covers the pool at the flip of a switch. The main patio is laid in a combination of Techo-Bloc Blu60 and Blu Grande Smooth in greyed nickel. A random modular pattern was used with an accent border in onyx black around the pool and perimeter. The patio features a shade pavilion and a built-in gas-fueled fire pit. For the lounge area at the far end of the pool and the raised porch attached to the house, the homeowners wanted to do something slightly different. They requested these sections of the patio be laid in the same Techo-Bloc Blu60 Smooth paver, but this time they wanted a combination of greyed nickel and shale grey and they wanted the modular pattern laid at an angle. The subtle changes make for a beautiful and unique inlay.
The landscaping on this project is a true bridge between the hardscape and natural surroundings. The property backs up to a marsh with sumac, cattails, and other native plants and animals. You can hear birds chirping and the vibrancy of the ecosystem is beautiful. Rather than go with more traditional landscaping such as boxwood hedges or hydrangea, the homeowners wanted something organic that melded their new outdoor living space with the native landscape. Fountain grasses, spruce, juniper, catmint, lilac, and willow surround the space. A ledge rock retaining wall separates the property from the marsh and a flagstone path connects the entertainment space to the front property. The effect is absolutely beautiful.
